In order to help low income individuals and families with the rising cost of medical care, the state of Missouri participates in the federally funded medicaid program. It helps those that are not able to get proper medical care because of not having the means.

Established under the Social Security Act in 1965, the federal insurance program for low income individuals known as the medicaid program was brought into existence. Although it is a federal program, it is jointly funded with, and administered through the individual states.

* Tip - Don't ever lend your medicaid card to anyone. Not only could you lose your benefits but you might go to jail.
