The state of Mississippi, in cooperation with the federal government is taking part in the federally funded insurance program known as medicaid. The medicaid program was established in order to help individuals and families to afford proper medical care.

The medicaid program was established in 1965 under the Social Security Act as the Federal Insurance Program. It is administered, and partially funded on the state level. The state of Mississippi uses the Mississippi Division of Medicaid to administer the program.

* Tip - Keep your medicaid card as well as any medical information (list of prescriptions, allergies, etc.) with you at all times and show them to the doctor before they perform any procedure.
