Medacaid - US Health Program
The
medaciad program is a federally funded insurance program
in the United States. It is funded jointly by the states
and the federal government and was established in order
to help low income individuals and families to be able to
afford proper medical care.
Established in 1965 under the Social Security Act, the
program was and still is a voluntary program, each state
must make the decision to join or not to join on their own.
At the time of this writing all 50 states are participating
in the medaciad program.
It is administered on a federal level by the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services, and on a state level it
is called by many different names that vary from state to
state. For example, the state of California calls the program
Medi-Cal but the state of Tennessee calls it TennCare.
