LouisianaMedicaid
The
state of Louisiana, in cooperation with the federal government,
is participating in the federal insurance program known
as medicaid. The medicaid program was established in order
to help low income individuals and families to afford proper
medical treatment.
The medicaid program was established in 1965 and is part
of the social security act. It helps people nationwide to
afford proper medical care if there is a genuine need. Although
it is a federal program, the individual states are responsible
for administering the program. The state of Louisiana uses
the Department of Health and Hospitals to administer the
funds.
* Tip - Medicaid will not cover 100% of an adult's medical
treatment. It is based on a sliding scale according to income.
