IndianaMedicaid
The
state of Indiana, in order to provide proper medical treatment
for low income individuals, is a member of the federal insurance
program known as medicaid. The state made wide use of this
and other medical assistance programs in order to help families
and individuals to receive the proper health care. Currently
one in eight individuals in the state of Indiana take advantage
of the program.
The federal government set up the medicaid program in 1965
through the Social Security Act. The program is a federal
insurance program but is administered by the individual
states. Indiana currently uses the Indiana Family and Social
Services Program.
* Tip - There are other programs that may help more than
medicaid or may be used in conjunction with medicaid in
order to further reduce medical costs. These programs vary
from state to state.
