The state of Florida, in cooperation with the federally funded medicaid program, offers financial assistance for medical bills for those that have a difficult time affording the procedures themselves. The state of Florida started to implement the state medicaid program in 1970 and has since added to it's list of beneficiaries.

Although the medicaid program is a federally funded program it is up to the states to handle it on an individual basis. Many states have a particular part of the government that handles the medicaid program, the state of Florida uses the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

* Tip - You will receive a medicaid card and should carry this with you at all times. When you have a doctors appointment you should show them this card before they perform any medical procedures.
